Tenidap is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug that acts as an inhibitor of prostaglandin synthesis. It has been shown to be effective in the treatment of arthritis, with no significant adverse effects on the liver or kidney. Tenidap inhibits the activity of two enzymes, cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase, which are involved in the synthesis of prostaglandins from arachidonic acid. The rate constant for tenidap has been determined by measuring its effect on HLA-60 cells. Tenidap is not an analgesic but is a potent anti-inflammatory agent that reduces inflammation by inhibiting production of prostaglandins. Tenidap also has protein binding properties that may lead to its use as a therapeutic agent for diseases that involve protein binding such as Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's disease.
