Product Information

Name:
APX-115
Description:

APX-115 is a dinitrophenyl phosphate derivative that has been shown to be reactive with the mitochondrial enzyme, pyruvate dehydrogenase. APX-115 has been shown to inhibit the growth of renal cell carcinoma cells in vitro and in vivo, as well as to reduce insulin resistance in diabetic patients. The drug has also been shown to induce mitochondrial biogenesis and improve the function of mitochondria in cell culture experiments. These effects are thought to be due to the ability of APX-115 to stimulate erythropoiesis, which leads to an increase in oxygen consumption.

APX-115 is not yet approved for use by humans but is currently being studied for its potential use as a therapy for chronic kidney disease, insulin resistance and intravascular hemolysis.
