Product Information
Paricalcitol-d6 is a synthetic vitamin D analog that is used to treat secondary hyperparathyroidism in patients with chronic kidney disease. It has been approved for use in the United States and Europe. This drug binds to the vitamin D receptor, which regulates calcium and phosphorus homeostasis by stimulating intestinal absorption of these minerals and inhibiting renal resorption of calcium. Paricalcitol-d6 also inhibits the synthesis of prostaglandins, which are involved in inflammatory responses. Paricalcitol-d6 has been shown to be bioequivalent to paricalcitol capsules, with a mean difference in area under the curve (AUC) of 0.3%. The AUC is an estimate of how much drug is absorbed into the body over time following administration.
Paricalcitol-d6 has not been evaluated for bioequivalence with other forms or routes of administration such as oral tablets or intravenous injection.
