DH 97 is a drug that has been used for the treatment of hypertension. It is a potent inhibitor of dopamine-beta-hydroxylase, which converts dopamine to norepinephrine. This conversion is important in regulating blood pressure. DH 97 inhibits the enzyme by binding to it and preventing the conversion from occurring. DH 97 also reduces acid-reactive substances and chloride ion concentrations in vitro, as well as morphogenetic protein synthesis and thiobarbituric acid-reactive substances.
