ABT 925-d6 is a potent and selective ligand for the human P2X receptor. It is a fumerate that binds to the receptor with high affinity and specificity. ABT 925-d6 has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on ion channels, but not on other protein interactions. The compound inhibits the response of human neutrophils to phorbol esters and calcium ionophore A23187 by blocking the P2X receptor. This drug has also been shown to be a strong activator of GTPase activity in Xenopus oocytes expressing the human P2X receptor.
