Product Information
IMB-808 is a synthetic, small molecule that was designed to target the low-density lipoprotein-cholesterol (LDL-C) receptor. The drug inhibits the binding of cholesterol to the LDL receptor, which prevents it from entering cells and being converted into bile acids. IMB-808 has been shown to decrease hepatic steatosis, cellular uptake, and acid ph in wild-type mice. This drug also decreases the synthesis of fatty acids and oxysterols, which are products of lipid metabolism. IMB-808 has been shown to inhibit the ATP binding cassette transporter A1 (ABCA1) and fatty acid receptor α (FARα).
IMB-808 has also been shown to be active against caco-2 cells, an intestinal cell line that is often used for studies on cholesterol absorption. In this assay, IMB-808 inhibited cholesterol uptake by these cells with an IC50 of 0.8 μM.
