MM 11253 is a small molecule that has been identified as having immunomodulatory properties. It has dose-dependent effects on the body, with low doses having an anti-inflammatory and immunomodulatory effect, and high doses having pro-inflammatory effects. In vitro studies have shown MM 11253 to have anti-fungal activity against opportunistic fungi such as Candida albicans. MM 11253 has been shown to inhibit the growth of carcinoma cell lines in vitro, and also to suppress hepatitis B virus replication in vivo. This drug also has been shown to be effective in reducing fat accumulation in the liver of mice with nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
