Product Information
TP2 is a potent inhibitor of the human protein, group P2. This protein is essential for the production of blood platelets and has been found to be involved in heparin-induced thrombocytopenia. TP2 inhibits platelet production by competitively binding to the active site of group P2, preventing the formation of a cofactor complex with other proteins that are required for platelet production. TP2 also binds to optical probes that are used in vitro assays and FT-IR spectroscopy. These experiments have shown that TP2 binds to nitrogen atoms in the active site of group P2, which inhibits transfection experiments and optical imaging. The inhibition of transfection may be due to interference with hydrogen bonding between groups on different sides of the molecule.
