Product Information
Erastin2 is a lipid-based gene therapy agent that is designed to inhibit the production of fatty acids. It binds with high affinity to enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis and inhibits their activity, reducing the levels of fatty acid metabolites. Erastin2 has been shown to induce necrotic cell death in cancer cells and reduce body weight in obese mice. This drug has also been shown to induce autophagy, which is a process by which cells degrade themselves through apoptosis when nutrient availability is low. Erastin2 induces autophagy by activating AMPK (adenosine monophosphate kinase), which activates transcriptional regulation of genes involved in the autophagy pathway.
