AZD2716 is a metalloprotease inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit the activity of matrix metalloproteinases (MMPs) and their corresponding tissue inhibitors of metalloproteinases (TIMPs). It has also been shown to inhibit the activity of peptidyl leukotrienes, which are inflammatory mediators. AZD2716 is currently being investigated for use as an anti-inflammatory or anti-cancer agent. Pharmacokinetic studies have shown that AZD2716 can be administered orally and achieves a high concentration in plasma within 30 minutes.
