Product Information
Calcitroic acid is a vitamin that is synthesized from the amino acid glutamic acid. It has been shown to inhibit the growth of cancer cells in vitro by binding to tubule cells and hl-60 cells. Calcitroic acid also inhibits the activity of rat liver microsomes, which are important for drug metabolism, by reducing the hydroxyl group. This compound is also able to bind calcium ions and may have a physiological function in maintaining bone density. Calcitroic acid may be an analog of vitamin D and could be used to treat infectious diseases such as tuberculosis or leprosy.
