Product Information
Auglurant is a drug that is used to treat major depressive disorder. It has been shown to be an allosteric modulator of the metabotropic glutamate receptor, which is a subtype of glutamate receptor. Auglurant has affinity for the alpha-amino-3-hydroxy-5-methyl-4-isoxazolepropionic acid (AMPA) and kainate receptors, but not for NMDA receptors. Auglurant acts as an antagonist of these receptors and blocks glutamate from binding. This blocks glutamate's ability to activate the AMPA and kainate receptors, which are involved in depression. Auglurant has also been shown to have antioxidant properties, which may be due to its ability to inhibit the enzyme aldehyde oxidase.
