CDKI-73 is a potent antiproliferative agent that inhibits protein synthesis, leading to cancer cell death. CDKI-73 can be administered orally and has been shown to have predictive biomarker properties in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL). CDKI-73 induces apoptotic cell death by inhibiting the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, such as TNFα and IL-1β. CDKI-73 also induces leukemic stem cells to undergo apoptotic cell death. CDKI-73 binds to and cleaves the antimicrobial peptide LL37, which may lead to its therapeutic effects.
