Product Information
Imiquimod is a 4-hydroxybenzoic acid derivative that belongs to the group of aminoimidazole supramolecular compounds. Imiquimod can be synthesized by reacting maleic anhydride with 2,4-diamino-6-methylpyrimidine. It has a carboxylic acid group and a hydroxyl group on the molecule. The maleate salt of imiquimod is soluble in water and forms hexahydrate crystals when it hydrates. Imiquimod is found to be polymorphic, meaning it can exist in different crystal structures, depending on the conditions in which it was crystallized. The x-ray diffraction pattern obtained from the crystals will show peaks at certain angles corresponding to these different configurations.
