Octadecanoic acid 1,1′-[(1R)-1-[[[hydroxy[2-[(7-nitro-2,1,3-benzoxadiazol-4-yl)amino]ethoxy]phosphinyl]oxy]methyl]-1,2-ethanediyl] ester ammonium salt (NBIO) is a tyrosine kinase inhibitor that has been shown to inhibit atherogenesis in vitro. NBIO inhibits the proliferation of vascular smooth muscle cells and the production of proinflammatory cytokines by these cells. It also inhibits the migration of inflammatory cells into the atherosclerotic lesion. NBIO is thought to be an effective drug for cardiovascular disorders because it inhibits blood clot formation and promotes fibrinolysis.
