Product Information
Aspochracin is a tripeptide that is biosynthesized by marine microorganisms. It functions as an anti-tumor agent, inhibiting the growth of tumor cells by binding to them and blocking protein synthesis. Aspochracin has been shown to inhibit the growth of human leukemia cells in culture, as well as other cancer cells, such as thymus-derived lymphocytes and lung carcinoma cells. It also inhibits the production of inflammatory cytokines in macrophages and induces apoptosis. Aspochracin has been found to inhibit the production of n-methyl-l-alanine (NALA), which is an intermediate for penicillic acid biosynthesis pathways in bacteria.
