Methyl 5-fluoro-2-(2-(1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)acetyl)-3-nitrobenzoate is a cell permeable inhibitor of the protease cathepsin B. It has been used as a research tool to study the protein interactions of this enzyme. Methyl 5-fluoro-2-(2-(1-methyl-1H-1,2,4-triazol-5-yl)acetyl)-3-nitrobenzoate is also an inhibitor of other proteinases and peptidases. The inhibition is reversible and competitive. The inhibition constant (Ki) for this drug are in the range of 0.02 - 1 µM.
