Product Information

Name:
Il-1β
Description:

Il-1β is an inflammatory cytokine that belongs to the IL-1 family. Il-1β is a proinflammatory cytokine with broad and potent biological effects. It has been shown to be involved in the pathogenesis of many diseases, including allergic symptoms, cardiovascular diseases, infectious diseases, cancer and other inflammatory diseases. Il-1β regulates the activity of MMP-9 and induces neuronal death through activation of Nlrp3. The concentration of endogenous Il-1β in physiological levels is necessary for maintaining normal tissue homeostasis. In addition, there are increased levels of Il-1β found in cancer tissues and atherosclerotic lesions.
Il-1β also increases the expression of cyclooxygenase 2 (COX2) by binding to NFκB p65 subunit. COX2 converts arachidonic acid into a series of prostaglandins, which are important mediators for inflammation.
