Galloylpaeoniflorin is a flavonoid found in fructus ligustri. It has been shown to inhibit the production of phosphatase, which is a type of protein that breaks down other proteins, by binding to the active site of the enzyme. This inhibition leads to an antiproliferation effect in cancer cells. Galloylpaeoniflorin also inhibits oxidative DNA damage and has been shown to be effective against inflammatory diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis. Galloylpaeoniflorin binds to hydroxyl groups on proteins and may play a role in wound healing.
