Product Information
VER-50589 is a dinucleotide phosphate that is phosphorylated to form VER-50589 phosphate. VER-50590 phosphate has been shown to inhibit the activity of methyl transferase, an enzyme involved in the synthesis of phospholipids. These findings provide insights into the use of this drug as a therapeutic agent for prostate cancer cells, which are dependent on dephosphorylation of phosphatidylserine by methyl transferase for survival. Phosphorylation of phosphatidylserine by methyl transferase leads to its externalization and subsequent degradation through autophagy. The compound has also been shown to be an autophagy inducer, which may be beneficial in treating pediatric brain injury.
