AR-13324 mesylate is an ophthalmic drug that belongs to the class of mesylates. It is a potent hypotensive agent and has shown efficacy in lowering intraocular pressure in patients with ocular hypertension or open-angle glaucoma. AR-13324 mesylate is an active ingredient of the drug Carteolol, which is a combination of timolol maleate and AR-13324 mesylate. This combination has been shown to have a greater effect on intraocular pressure than either component alone, with decreased side effects such as photophobia, blurred vision, and tearing.
