Product Information
ML 18 is a fatty acid that is naturally found in the body. It has been used to diagnose cancer and other diseases, as it may be a specific agonist of the cytosolic fatty acid receptor. ML 18 binds to the cytosolic fatty acid receptor and can lead to the release of calcium ions from intracellular stores. This leads to an increase in cytosolic calcium ion concentration (Ca2+) which can have many effects on cell function, including apoptosis. ML 18 has also been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties through its inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis. The enantiomer form of ML 18 does not bind to the cytosolic fatty acid receptor and does not cause an increase in Ca2+.
