(+)-CI 1044 is a peptide that has been shown to activate the G-protein coupled receptor, GlyR. This activation leads to increased levels of intracellular calcium and neurotransmitter release. (+)-CI 1044 is a potent inhibitor of ion channels, especially voltage-gated potassium channels. It also inhibits the activity of peptides that bind to glycine receptors in the central nervous system. The binding site of (+)-CI 1044 is located at the N-terminal segment of the GlyR. The binding site for (+)-CI 1044 has been identified with an antibody by immunoprecipitation and Western blot analysis.
