Lupinalbin A is a coumaronochromone that has been identified as the major coumarin in the leaves of Lupinus philippinensis. This compound has shown low potency against the enzyme acetylcholinesterase, and its inhibitory activity on this enzyme may be due to its ability to bind to the active site of acetylcholinesterase. Lupinalbin A also binds copper ions and prevents their binding to enzymes in the body. Coumaronochromones have been found to have estrogen receptor modulating effects, which may be due to their ability to bind with these receptors. In addition, lupinalbin A has shown chemoattractant properties for leukocytes, and it is believed that this property is due to its ability to bind with G protein-coupled receptors.
