Product Information

Name:
HS56
Description:

HS56 is a silicon-based stimulator that has been shown to increase the contractility of isolated mammalian muscle cells in vivo. It also increases the production of ATP by stimulating the conversion of ADP and Pi to ATP. HS56 is not toxic to human erythrocytes, because it does not release hydroxyl radicals. This compound has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria that are resistant to antibiotics, including methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus and multidrug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. HS56 has also been shown to have neuroprotective effects in vitro and in vivo and may be useful for treating neurodegenerative diseases such as Alzheimer's disease or Parkinson's disease. Monoclonal antibodies against HS56 can be used for diagnostic purposes, such as identifying cells infected with HIV or identifying cancerous tissue during surgery.
