Prosaikogenin G is a saponin that has been shown to have immunomodulatory effects. It is found in the roots of Saikosaponin B2, which is a plant native to Taiwan. Prosaikogenin G has been shown to suppress the expression of pro-inflammatory cytokines and increase the production of anti-inflammatory cytokines, such as IL-10. In addition, it has been shown to inhibit the production of fatty acids and hemolytic activity in urine samples. Prosaikogenin G also had hepatoprotective effects and hydroxyl group metabolism in rat liver microsomes and rat mesangial cells. It may be useful for cancer prevention due to its ability to induce apoptosis through inhibition of protein synthesis.
