HMN-176 is a potent and selective inhibitor of the α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (α7 nAChR). It binds to the α7 nAChR with an IC50 of 0.6 μM, and inhibits the binding of nicotine to the receptor with >90% inhibition at 10 μM. HMN-176 can also inhibit acetylcholinesterase activity in vitro and has been shown to increase brain dopamine levels in vivo. HMN-176 is a research tool that can be used to study protein interactions, activator ligands, and receptor antagonists.
