Product Information
Gambogenin is a triterpenoid saponin isolated from the roots of Polygala gambogia. The pharmacology of Gambogenin has been studied extensively, with research suggesting that it acts as an activator at the G-protein coupled receptor for bradykinin and serotonin. Gambogenin has also been shown to inhibit ion channels and to be a ligand for peptide receptors. It is known to activate the enzyme phospholipase C, which hydrolyzes phosphatidylcholine into choline and phosphatidic acid. Gambogenin is used in cell biology as a research tool and in life science research as an analytical standard.
Gambogenic acid (GA) is a terpenoid saponin that belongs to the group of quassinoids that are found in plants such as Polygala gambogia. GA has been shown to have pharmacological effects including activation of both G-protein coupled receptors for bradykin
