Product Information
PAT-1251 hydrochloride is a peptide that contains the amino acid sequence of elastin. It has been shown to inhibit the catalytic function of elastinase, an enzyme that cleaves elastin and therefore disrupts the integrity of elastic fibers in skin. PAT-1251 hydrochloride inhibits the cross-linking of collagen by elastase and prevents degradation of elastic fibers in tissue samples from rodents. This peptide has also been shown to be a substrate for deamination and interaction with endogenous oxidases. The biotinylated form of PAT-1251 hydrochloride can be used for visualization of its catalytic activity using fluorescence microscopy.
