16:1 Aldehyde-d5 is a synthetic, lipid-soluble, non-aromatic organic compound that has been used as a research tool in cell biology and pharmacology. It has been shown to activate the G protein coupled receptor (GPCR) called GP2 and is a ligand for the peptide hormone glucagon. 16:1 Aldehyde-d5 also binds to ion channels and inhibits sodium current by binding to the extracellular loop of the alpha subunit of sodium channels. 16:1 Aldehyde-d5 is also an inhibitor of phospholipase A2 and can be used in antibody production for immunohistochemical staining.
