This drug has been shown to have an inhibitory effect on spontaneous motor activity and to interact with other dopamine receptors, such as the M1 receptor. SKF-83566 has been studied in rats and found to have an interactive effect on the d4 receptor and inhibiting adenylate cyclase activity. The clinical relevance of this drug is still being investigated, but it may be used for pharmacological treatment or for molecular probes.
