Bevirimat is a potent, selective and orally active inhibitor of protein-protein interactions. It has been shown to inhibit the interaction between Kv1.3 potassium channels and their ligands, which are important for the regulation of neuronal excitability. Bevirimat can also be used as a research tool to study protein interactions or as an antibody to study cell biology. Bevirimat is highly pure and stable in storage. It is not toxic to mammalian cells at concentrations below 0.5 μM and it does not inhibit non-Kv1 potassium channels at concentrations up to 10 μM.
