Description:

2-[1-[(2-Amino-7H-purin-6-yl)amino]ethyl]-5-methyl-3-(2-methylphenyl)quinazolin-4-one is a potent and selective inhibitor of the ion channel TRPV1. It blocks the activation of TRPV1 by capsaicin, and reduces the production of substance P in sensory neurons. This compound has been shown to cause tachycardia, hypotension, and vasodilation in rats. 2-[1-[(2-Amino-7H-purin-6-yl)amino]ethyl]-5-methyl-3-(2-methylphenyl)quinazolin-4-one is being developed as a therapeutic agent for chronic pain associated with cancer or other diseases.
