Product Information
Peroxy Orange 1 (PO1) is a chemical that is used to measure the sensitivity of microbes. It reacts with catalase, an enzyme found in many microbes. The reaction produces hydrogen peroxide, which can be detected by an electrochemical biosensor. This sensor is more sensitive than other methods and can detect as little as 0.001 μM PO1. Peroxy Orange 1 has been used to study inflammatory bowel disease and its effects on the microenvironment of the bowel. It has also been shown to have anti-tumor properties in experimental models of cancer metastasis in animal models of colon cancer.
