  • Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic Acid

    CAS:
    Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acid is a thienopyridone antibiotic that inhibits bacterial growth by binding to the 50S ribosomal subunit. Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acid has been shown to be active against a range of bacteria, including Escherichia coli and pneumoniae. It also binds to the beta subunit of methyltransferase and blocks the synthesis of methionine, which is an essential amino acid in bacteria. Thieno[2,3-b]pyridine-5-carboxylic acid can also bind to fatty acids in the bacterial cell membrane and disrupt its function.
