:3,3',5,5'-TETRABROMOBIPHENYL
Description:
3,3',5,5'-Tetrabromobiphenyl is a polybrominated biphenyl compound characterized by the presence of four bromine atoms attached to a biphenyl structure. This compound is part of a larger class of chemicals known as brominated flame retardants, which are used to reduce flammability in various materials. Its molecular structure consists of two phenyl rings connected by a single bond, with bromine substituents located at the 3, 3', 5, and 5' positions. The presence of multiple bromine atoms significantly alters the physical and chemical properties of the biphenyl backbone, enhancing its thermal stability and hydrophobicity. 3,3',5,5'-Tetrabromobiphenyl is typically a solid at room temperature and is insoluble in water but soluble in organic solvents. Due to its potential environmental persistence and bioaccumulation, it has raised concerns regarding its ecological impact and human health effects, leading to regulatory scrutiny in various jurisdictions. As a result, its use has been restricted or phased out in many applications.

CAS:Controlled Product
The pharmacokinetic properties of PBB 80, a potent and selective inhibitor of the enzyme peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor alpha, have been studied in Sprague-Dawley rats. Plasma protein binding was found to be high and it was observed that the drug is eliminated by a combination of metabolism and renal excretion. Covid-19 pandemic influenza virus infection in human recombinant cell culture studies has shown that PBB 80 is an effective inhibitor of viral replication. The biphenyl moiety is responsible for hydrogen bond interactions with the active site of the enzyme, steric interactions with the surrounding residues, and electrostatic interactions with the phosphate groups on DNA. These properties lead to inhibition of both peroxisome proliferation as well as dihydrofolate reductase activity. It has also been shown that PBB 80 inhibits replication of human immunodeficiency virus type 1 (HIV-1).
Formula:C12H6Br4Purity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:469.79 g/molPBB 80
