:Vortioxetine
Description:
Vortioxetine is an antidepressant medication primarily used to treat major depressive disorder. It is classified as a serotonin modulator and stimulator, which means it influences various serotonin receptors in the brain, enhancing serotonin levels and activity. The chemical formula for vortioxetine is C18H22N2S, and it features a unique structure that includes a phenyl ring, a piperazine moiety, and a thiophene ring. This compound exhibits a dual mechanism of action: it not only inhibits the reuptake of serotonin but also acts as an agonist or antagonist at specific serotonin receptors, contributing to its therapeutic effects. Vortioxetine is generally well-tolerated, with a side effect profile that may include nausea, constipation, and sexual dysfunction. Its pharmacokinetics indicate that it has a relatively long half-life, allowing for once-daily dosing. As with any medication, it is essential for patients to consult healthcare professionals for personalized advice and monitoring during treatment.

CAS:Controlled Product
Vortioxetine is a serotonin modulator and reuptake inhibitor which appears to be much more potent on serotonin reuptake inhibition and 5-HT3 receptor antagonism than other interactions with the 5-HT receptor family. This drug binds selectively to 5-HT receptors and inhibits the activity of serotonin reuptake transporters on presynaptic neurons, thereby increasing serotonin concentrations in the brain. It is used for the treatment of major depressive disorder (MDD)and has also been shown to be effective against depression-related symptoms such as sleep disturbances, appetite disturbance, and weight change. Vortioxetine has also been demonstrated to suppress glioblastoma in both ex vivo human tissue samples and in mice. This may indicate vortioxetine signalling cascade activation supresses cancer cell division, and could constitute an effective part of a treatment regime for glioblastoma patients.
Formula:C18H22N2SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:298.45 g/mol
