:Piperacillin
Description:
Piperacillin is a semisynthetic penicillin antibiotic that is primarily used to treat a variety of bacterial infections. It is effective against a broad spectrum of gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria, including Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Piperacillin works by inhibiting bacterial cell wall synthesis, leading to cell lysis and death. The compound is typically administered via injection, as it is not well absorbed when taken orally. Its chemical structure includes a beta-lactam ring, which is characteristic of penicillins, and a side chain that enhances its activity against certain resistant bacteria. Piperacillin is often combined with a beta-lactamase inhibitor, such as tazobactam, to extend its efficacy against beta-lactamase-producing organisms. Common side effects may include allergic reactions, gastrointestinal disturbances, and potential impacts on renal function. Due to its broad-spectrum activity, piperacillin is frequently utilized in hospital settings for serious infections, particularly in immunocompromised patients.

CAS:
Piperacillin is a β-lactam antibiotic that inhibits the synthesis of bacterial cell walls by binding to penicillin-binding proteins. It is used for the treatment of serious infections caused by gram-negative organisms such as Aerogenes, Enterobacter, and Klebsiella. Piperacillin has a high MIC90 value against Staphylococcus and other gram-positive bacteria, but it is not active against β-lactamase producing strains of bacteria such as E. coli or Klebsiella pneumoniae. The MIC90 values are determined through an analytical method on different strains of bacteria and validated with a sample preparation before use in clinical trials.
Formula:C23H27N5O7SPurity:Min. 95 Area-%Color and Shape:White PowderMolecular weight:517.56 g/molPiperacillin-d5
CAS:
Piperacillin-d5 is a stable isotopically labeled antibiotic, which is synthesized chemically to incorporate deuterium atoms. It is derived from the β-lactam group of antibiotics, sharing properties with its non-labeled counterpart, piperacillin. The incorporation of five deuterium atoms allows researchers to use it as a tracer in various pharmacokinetic and metabolic studies without altering its biological activity.
Formula:C23H22D5N5O7SPurity:Min. 95%Molecular weight:522.59 g/mol
