:Raloxifene
Description:
Raloxifene is a selective estrogen receptor modulator (SERM) primarily used in the treatment and prevention of osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and for reducing the risk of invasive breast cancer. Its chemical formula is C28H27NO4S, and it features a sulfonamide group, which contributes to its biological activity. Raloxifene exhibits estrogenic effects on bone tissue, promoting bone density while antagonizing estrogen receptors in breast and uterine tissues, thereby reducing the risk of estrogen-dependent cancers. The substance is typically administered orally and has a relatively long half-life, allowing for once-daily dosing. Raloxifene is well-absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, but its bioavailability is affected by first-pass metabolism. Common side effects may include hot flashes, leg cramps, and an increased risk of thromboembolic events. As a non-steroidal compound, Raloxifene's mechanism of action involves binding to estrogen receptors and modulating gene expression, making it a valuable therapeutic option in women's health.

CAS:Controlled Product
Raloxifene is a non-steroidal drug that binds to estrogen receptors, which may be useful in the treatment of postmenopausal osteoporosis. Raloxifene has been shown to increase bone mineral density and reduce the risk of vertebral fractures in postmenopausal women with osteoporosis. Raloxifene also has been found to decrease breast cancer risk by about 50% in postmenopausal women. The drug binds to estrogen receptors in breast tissue, preventing the stimulation of these cells by estrogen and decreasing their growth rate. Raloxifene also inhibits the production of lactogenic hormones such as prolactin and progesterone that are involved in breast cancer development. Raloxifene hydrochloride is used at doses between 60 mg and 120 mg per day for a duration of 5 years.
Raloxifene hydrochloride is not active against estrogen receptor positive tumors and should not be used for treatment of breast cancer.
Formula:C28H27NO4SPurity:Min. 95%Color and Shape:PowderMolecular weight:473.58 g/mol2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)-3-{4-[2-(piperidin-1-yl)ethoxy]benzoyl}-1-benzothiophen-6-ol
