trans-2′-Hydroxychalcone

Description:
Trans-2′-Hydroxychalcone is a flavonoid compound characterized by its structural features, which include a chalcone backbone with a hydroxyl group at the 2' position of the aromatic ring. This compound typically exhibits a yellow to orange color due to its conjugated double bond system, which allows for light absorption in the visible spectrum. Trans-2′-Hydroxychalcone is known for its potential biological activities, including antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties. It is soluble in organic solvents and has limited solubility in water, which is common for many flavonoids. The compound's stability can be influenced by factors such as pH and light exposure, and it may undergo isomerization under certain conditions. In terms of applications, trans-2′-Hydroxychalcone is of interest in pharmaceutical and cosmetic formulations due to its beneficial effects on skin health and its role in various biochemical pathways. Its chemical reactivity and interactions with other molecules make it a subject of study in both synthetic and natural product chemistry.

    CAS:

The 2-hydroxyphenyl-3-phenylpropenal (HPPA) is a fatty acid with a hydroxyl group. It has been shown to have anti-inflammatory properties and inhibit the production of TNF-α in mice. HPPA is synthesized by the oxidation of oleic acid, which can be catalyzed by a number of different enzymes such as lipoxygenases, cyclooxygenases, or cytochrome P450s. The synthesis can also be inhibited by other substances such as dibromides or tnf-α. HPPA also has potent inhibitory activity against transcription polymerase chain reaction and protein synthesis. This inhibition is due to its carbonyl group that reacts with the intramolecular hydrogen on the enzyme's active site. The reaction mechanism for this inhibition is similar to that of propranolol, another drug used for treatment of inflammatory diseases.
