:Metosulam
Description:
Metosulam is a selective herbicide primarily used for the control of broadleaf weeds and certain grasses in various crops. It belongs to the sulfonamide class of chemicals and functions by inhibiting the enzyme branched-chain amino acid synthesis, which is essential for plant growth. Metosulam is characterized by its systemic action, allowing it to be absorbed by the foliage and translocated throughout the plant. It is typically applied post-emergence and is known for its effectiveness at low application rates, making it an environmentally favorable option. The compound is stable under normal conditions but may degrade under extreme environmental factors such as high temperatures or prolonged exposure to sunlight. Metosulam is generally considered to have low toxicity to mammals, birds, and aquatic organisms, although care should be taken to minimize environmental impact. Its use is regulated in many regions, and adherence to safety guidelines is essential for effective and responsible application.

CAS:
Metosulam is a triazolopyrimidine herbicide that inhibits the growth of weeds by interfering with plant photosynthesis. Metosulam binds to fatty acids and carbohydrates, which prevents these molecules from binding to the enzyme ATP synthase. This results in a loss of energy production, leading to cell death. Metosulam has been shown to cause chronic cough in mice when given at sublethal doses for long periods of time. The chronic cough was found to be due to an interactive effect between metosulam and polymeric matrix in the lungs that caused inflammation.
Formula:C14H13Cl2N5O4SPurity:Min. 90%Color and Shape:Beige PowderMolecular weight:418.26 g/molMetosulam
