2-methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)aniline

The reaction rate of 2-methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)aniline with sulfoxides is faster than that of benzyl anilines, but slower than that of anilino derivatives. The addition of hydrophobic groups to the 2-methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)aniline molecule increases the reaction rate. 2-Methyl-6-(trifluoromethyl)aniline can be used as an anesthetic agent because it is a potent inhibitor of nerve conduction in sciatic nerves.
