Chromogenic Substrates

Chromogenic Substrates

Chromogenic substrates are compounds that produce a visible color change when acted upon by specific enzymes. These substrates are widely used in diagnostic assays, biochemical research, and enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays (ELISAs) to detect and quantify enzyme activity. The color change allows for easy and rapid visual identification of enzyme reactions, making chromogenic substrates essential tools in laboratory analysis. At CymitQuimica, we provide a diverse selection of high-quality chromogenic substrates to support your research and diagnostic applications.

  • Phosphoric acid, mono(4-nitrophenyl) ester

    CAS:
Phosphoric acid, mono(4-nitrophenyl) ester is an inhibitor that binds to the human serum albumin (HSA), thereby preventing it from binding to the transcriptional regulatory protein. This leads to a decrease in the activity of this protein and consequently less inhibition of gene expression. The structural analysis of this inhibitor has shown that it forms hydrogen bonding interactions with basic proteins, while its reactivity is mainly dependent on Michaelis–Menten kinetics. The inhibitor also inhibits enzyme activities by binding to their active sites, reducing the enzyme's ability to catalyze reactions.

It has been shown to be more potent than other irreversible inhibitors such as ethyl 4-nitrophenyl hexylphosphonate and methyl 4-nitrophenoxybutyl phosphate. This compound is an immobilized form of the methyl 4-nitrophenyl hexylphosphonate that is immobilized on an inert surface, such as silica gel, via a covalent bonding process. The immobilization of the molecule ensures that it will not leach from the surface and is stable over time. The molecular weight of this substance is 411.5 Daltons and its molecular formula is C8H15NO4P. This substance has a diameter of 0.8 nm and can be found in crystalline form with a melting point of 143 degrees Celsius at atmospheric pressure. Methyl 4-nitrophenyl

  • 2-O-(4-Nitrophenyl)-a-D-N-acetylneuraminic acid

    CAS:

2-O-(4-Nitrophenyl)-a-D-N-acetylneuraminic acid, also known as p-nitrophenyl N-acetylneuraminic acid, is a chromogenic substrate specifically designed for the detection and quantification of neuraminidase (sialidase) activity. Upon cleavage by neuraminidase, it releases a yellow-colored product, 4-nitrophenol, which can be easily monitored spectrophotometrically at 405 nm. This substrate is widely used in various applications, including enzyme kinetics studies, inhibitor screening, and the determination of neuraminidase activity in biological samples such as viruses, bacteria, and cell lysates. It is particularly useful for studying the enzymatic properties of neuraminidases from different sources and for the development of novel antiviral and antibacterial agents targeting neuraminidase activity.
