It inhibits the synthesis of α7 nicotinic acetylcholine receptors and has been shown to have inhibitory properties against cancer cells. Furo[3,2-b]pyridine also has inhibitory effects on infectious diseases, such as tuberculosis and malaria. Furo[3,2-b]pyridine binds to human liver microsomes and causes a decrease in urea nitrogen and an increase in uric acid levels.
