Description:

N,N'-Dibenzyl-4,13-diaza-18-crown 6-ether (DBE) is a polymer that has been used as an additive in pharmaceutical preparations. DBE has been shown to form hydrogen bonds with other molecules and to be soluble in polyvinyl chloride. DBE is also able to bind metal ions such as potassium and pyridoxine hydrochloride. DBE is used for the manufacture of pharmaceutical preparations by gravimetric analysis. The molecular weight of the polymer can be determined by measuring the increase in weight of the polymer after exposure to hydrogen plasma. This polymer has been found to have a low degree of splay and good solubility properties.
