Omethoate

Omethoate is a chemical compound that belongs to the group of organophosphates and is used as an insecticide. It has a synergic effect with sodium citrate and can be used to prevent the development of fluorescence probe-induced fluorescein, which is the target enzyme for omethoate. Omethoate inhibits acetylcholinesterase (AChE) by binding to its active site, which leads to prolonged action at nerve endings and muscle junctions. The reaction mechanism of omethoate involves phosphorus pentoxide, an electron acceptor, which reduces it to phosphate acid. The phosphate acid then reacts with the enzyme’s active site, disrupting its function.
