It has been shown to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis and to have analgesic, antipyretic, and anti-inflammatory properties. EMBC inhibits the enzyme cyclooxygenase which converts arachidonic acid into prostaglandins. In humans, EMBC is absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract and excreted in the urine unchanged or as metabolites.
