It has been shown to interact with plasmin and inhibit both the enzymatic activity and the binding of plasmin to its substrates. Cis-4-[(dimethylamino)methyl]-cyclohexanecarboxylic acid interacts with the side chain of the amino group in plasmin's active site, which is different from other known inhibitors.
