N-Ethylmethylamine reacts with chlorine atoms in solution to form chloramines, which are more stable than free chlorine molecules. This reaction can be catalyzed by ph optimum or activated carbon. The reaction between hydrochloric acid and methyl ethyl amine produces methylamine gas, which is toxic in high concentrations.</p>
